The deck begins with a short mini lesson explaining why phoneme manipulation matters, showing students how working with sounds supports decoding, spelling, noticing patterns, and becoming more flexible readers.
Students then work through 10 interactive “Take It Away” slides, listening to a word, deleting a sound, and saying the new word. Practice includes removing beginning and ending sounds from words such as block, smile, plane, card, goal, and team, with later slides increasing the challenge using words with endings and more complex sound patterns.
